Tips to take my ukulele to the beach

Can I take my ukulele to the beach?

When going on vacation it is natural to want to take our Ukulele with us, but what are the risks of taking a ukulele to the beach? What are the care you need?

Next we will give you a couple of tips and recommendations when it comes to taking our Ukulele on vacation so that this do not run any danger.

Keep in mind that not all woods are the same, and each one is more or less resistant to the sun and the climate of the beach, some woods are more resistant to changes in environmental temperature, such as laminated wood and others can be more delicate.

In case of be exposed directly to the sun long time there are woods that they can get dark (Like walnut, some can be clarified (like mahogany) and some remain the same color (like maple).

If the air is very dry, the wood in the uke can crack, but this will only happen in very hot dry situations. The best way to protect your ukulele against cracks is with a humidifier, whether you buy it or manufacture it yourself.

If instead the air is very wet, the wood can swell or deform, but in the same way this will happen in a very humid environment or if the ukulele gets wet. The best way to protect your ukulele from moisture is to keep one or two silica sachets next to your ukulele in its case.

Sand can also be a danger, because your ukulele can be scratched and for this problem the only solution is to be careful with it.

It is highly recommended to have a very good case so that your ukulele is protected in all transfers and when you are not using it.

A very good alternative to give yourself a little escape to the beach without having to worry about the care of your ukulele and enjoy playing on the beach to the fullest are the ukuleles of the line Kala Waterman Well, these ukuleles are specially designed so you can take it everywhere!

Being made of plastic these ukuleles they can get wet without any problem and are very resistant because they were specially designed to take them as companions of adventures.

Happy Holidays!
