As we have talked about in other blogs, there are different sizes of Ukuleles, from the traditional one that we all know, and one that is much more similar to a guitar. Today we are going to tell you what they are and the differences between each one.
El soprano It is the traditional Ukulele, a little giant, the one with the sweet sound that is so peculiar and makes everyone fall in love. It measures 53cm and is perfect for children, youth and adults to touch. If you have small hands, it is the ideal one for you, since its arm is not that long and the frets are not so far apart, just the size for you to put your finger on the string.
Another peculiarity of the Soprano is that it is very comfortable to travel, it has a bright sound and perfect for high voices.
Its tuning (from top to bottom) is: G (G), C (C), E (E) and A (A).
The concert size, or concert It is the medium of the family, 58cm long and a resonating box larger than that of the soprano make it ideal for people who have a larger torso or hands, such as adults, since the arm is longer and the frets have more room for fingers.
Its sound is lower than the soprano, without losing that very specific tone of the Ukulele, in addition to the amplitude of its box it gives a higher volume, which makes it perfect for people who sing, since the sound is not lost or opaque to the voice.
Like the soprano it works with the standard tuning of the Ukulele G (Sun), C (Do), E (Mi) and A (La).
El tenor he is the third brother of the Ukulele family, he is 8 cm taller than the concert, and 13 cm taller than the Soprano. Its size makes it obvious that the boom and the resonating box are larger, in addition the mouth of the box is wider, which causes a much higher volume and a lower sound than its two smaller brothers. This Ukulele is perfect for people who have been playing the Ukulele for a long time, because in addition to the comfort, the length of its arm gives us more frets, which means that we can play more notes with it.
This Ukulele is the last one that carries the tuning of G (Sun), C (Do), E (Mi) and A (La). and although if it is lower than the soprano and the concert, it still has the sweet sound that we want to hear.
The largest of all Ukuleles, it is 76cm long, and although it is the longest, it is still smaller than a guitar. The only thing they have similar, is the tuning ... unlike the other 3 sizes, the Baritone E (Mi), B (Si), G (Sol) and D (Re) are tuned.
It has a much lower sound and is the best if you want to add a new sound to your collection of Ukuleles, or if you play the guitar, it will be very easy for you to transport yourself to this Ukulele.
