We all know this minimal phrase by some movie or some book ...
Do you know who said it? His name was Neil Armstrong. He was the first man to set foot on the moon! and today we decided to talk about him because he was ukulelist!
As many of us know 20 July 1969 Neil Armstrong was the first man to step on the moon aboard the spacecraft Apollo 11.
On July 24, 1969 the mission finally concluded and the spacecraft returned to Earth safely. Despite being away for only a short time, the pilots were unable to return to their homes so soon, as they had to be quarantined for possible viruses or illnesses that they may have brought from their amazing trip.
For 21 days Armstrong and his companions were inside a special trailer or capsule to isolate them and all this time Armstrong had the best company, his ukulele.
NASA was able to capture this image of Armstrong playing his ukulele in the hope of being able to return home and wrote:
"Inside view of a mobile quarantine facility, which shows the Apollo 11 crew soon after arriving at the Air Force Base
from Ellington very early Sunday after a flight from Hawaii aboard a US Air Force C-141 transport plane.A large crowd was present to welcome the astronauts to their home in Houston. Neil A. Armstrong is strumming a ukulele. Michael Collins (first
plane to the right) and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. (bottom right) are looking out the window. "
Do you know any other celebrities who play the ukulele and not many know it? What would you take with you if you were as long as he was? Let us know on our social networks!
