Learn to play, be self-taught or take classes?

Being self-taught is not fought with education.

With the passage of time we have been in contact with people from all over the world and of all ages who already play the ukulele or are learning to do it. The constant is always the passion for music and the instrument.

However What is the best way to learn?
Those who have learned on their own are witnesses that all it takes to learn is perseverance and dedication. Learning to play ukulele It is not a gift with which you get up one morning from your bed.

On the other hand, those who have reached the ukulele for their musical knowledge, trying new instruments or directly with classes are exposed to the classes leading them to pressure themselves and be consistent with their practices.

The best process to learn will depend a lot on your personality and the constancy you can dedicate to anything you want to learn, but, How do I take my learning further?.

Sometimes when we learn on our own we only learn to play certain "standard" chords (the ones we see and copy from tabs and Tutoriales), which is not bad but limits the possibilities of the instrument to just these chords. This can be a very good first step, but, Is it the only thing that can be done with the ukulele? the answer is no.

In short, musical knowledge is necessary to better develop your skills but above all to understand the reason for things.
With musical knowledge it is not necessary that you learn all the chords that exist, if not you can reach your own conclusion and you can build the chord that best suits your needs.
Music is a very extensive and complicated language to which only some venture but it does not mean that not everyone can learn it.

If you decide to embark on this learning on your own, you may arrive at the same discoveries that hundreds of musicians have reached over the centuries but going to classes or with a teacher will transfer you the best ways to learn in the shortest time and without go through the years of mistakes that cost musicians to reach these same conclusions.

We conclude that in any of the paths you decide to take, the main thing is that you have fun and enjoy the process without rushing to become the best one day for the next.
Remember that learning is a process and everyone can achieve it but each person is different and that will depend on how long it takes for you to learn.
