Darbuka musicians

Hello, friends of the tamboreria. Again Karen writes, as always, haha.

It has been an exquisite journey since I first met the Darbuka drum and it was that I had no idea that it existed, the same thing happened to me when they told me about an atabaque. I was "whaaat?" when they asked me about him.
More or less my face was ...

It's no lie, when the darbuka arrived at the store I said, "What the hell is that?"
And thanks to my very ambitious personality I researched many things about this drum and began to get more and more involved ...

Today I can undoubtedly show you some of the artists that I have followed for a little while and they seem incredible ...

First of all there is one of my favorites of course ...

Mahmoud Fadl. Percussionist Mahmoud Fadl, born in 1955, is a descendant of a Nubian family rooted in the Griot culture of the "Battikol" people. His percussion talent made him a highly sought-after musician for the best Arab orchestras and singers such as Ahmed Adawia and Nubian soul legend Ali Hassan Kuban.

Secondly I can recommend Hossam Ramzy. NHe was born in Cairo, Egypt. His musical career began at the age of three when he was given his first drum, a traditional Egyptian table. Hossam was encouraged by members of his artistic family to master his trade and studied with the leading music teachers in Cairo. When he moved to Saudi Arabia, he joined several Bedouin tribes, which gave him a deep insight into the cultural origins of Middle Eastern music and became the inspiration of many of his latest rhythmic directions.

Thirdly and it does not mean that it is the worst or anything like that, I can recommend ... Burhan Öçal.

From his father, he learned a variety of percussion instruments, while his mother introduced him to religious vocal music. After his first contact with Western music, he became interested in combining other genres and cultural traditions, such as jazz and Western classical music, with his own. Burhan Öçal's instruments are as diverse as his music. In addition to a wide variety of percussion, such as the Darbuka (a drum-shaped drum played with the fingers), Kös (boiler drum), Kudüm and Bendir, he is a very skilled player in several string instruments, including the Divan -Saz, Tanbur and you. Your expressive voice adds to the spectrum of musical elements at your disposal.

These three great percussionists have filled me with great joy and surprise, since the little I knew about Western music was not related to Darbuka. I hope you liked this blog.
