Djembé percussionist women

How are Tamboreria's friends? Today I want to tell you something super father that happened here in the store.

On Friday 15 I had to teach Ukulele to the boys who are already super faithful to our workshops, before going out to teach, an Argentine girl came asking for the djembes. I thought it was coming to the percussion class we give here in a store but no, she was looking for a djembe to buy it.

I super excited I said, "Sure, do you want me to show you one in particular?" He saw the Africans and said, "that" and I like that, "Oh my god, he does know."

At the time he touched it, he could see that the wood was native to Africa and the skin was incredible, he began to touch it and I could tell he knew quite what he was doing.

Talking to her, she started telling me everything she had seen and lived, she lived for a few months in Africa and that was where she got into African percussion. She began her musical studies on drums and as she traveled, she discovered different types of percussion.

When he arrived in Mexico, he could not believe that there was a store like the DRUM, where not only we had available native African djembes but we were also making a community and informing about everything around the percussion.

Then he told me that he was here because he was going to take African drumming workshops with a well-known drummer and he told me that she was looking for a group of girls who played the djembe to be able to make a circle of djembé where they are only girls.

And she told me that during her stay in Africa, she was quite surprised that many men had the mentality of saying, "Women do not touch, they dedicate themselves to the housework."
And there was born his search to make his own circle of djembé with women of different nationality.

My point of view is that, music, love, fun and freedom, is worthy of every human being, when it is forbidden to do something to someone because of their gender, their religion or any lifestyle decision is being played a role that no one belongs to.

I hope you liked this little experience and that you can continue reading our other blogs.
