Being beginner at ukulele It may cause you some frustration but in this blog we will know basic exercises that will make you be a expert.
Quadraphonic exercises are more important than you think, many of us musicians cannot forget those first steps with these friends, since they are called quadraphonic exercises, fingering exercises or exercises for the independence of the left or right hand.
They basically consist of naming your index, middle, ring and pinky fingers from 1 to 4 respectively, Play the first string on fret 1 and using your finger 1 (Index), then play the same string but now on fret 2 with the finger 2 (Middle) Then you can go doing the hardest and fastest.
These exercises will help you make the notes you make sound perfect, you can also exercise the strength of your fingers' grip.
As you learn ukulele little by little you will realize that there are too many rhythms in your favorite songs, not all of them are played the same.
Strumming exercises allow you to have a more ambitious notion of musical rhythms and beats.
These exercises consist of accustoming your wrist of the hand that strums to the movement in different ways, making combinations. For example, first you should start to pass your hand through all the strings downwards (strum), return to your initial position and strum down again until your hand gets used to it, then you will realize that if you want to strum in the opposite direction you will to cost a lot, that's what we should practice, so what you can do is make combinations:
DOWN, DOWN, UP, DOWN, DOWN
DOWN, UP, UP, UP, DOWN ...
The rhythm exercises are basically that you can have a notion of the time and the spaces that a song requires. For example, you are not going to play a salsa song the same as a waltz because they are sooo different rhythms, it's like when you dance, A SALSA DOES YOU DANCE LIKE A VALS? NO, TRUE?
So, what you can practice is always to find the strongest rhythm in a song, for example in a waltz the strong point is the 1st, the rhythm or time of a waltz is ... 1, 2, 3. 1, 2 , 3 .. 1, 2,3 ... The number one strums downwards and only with your mind counts the 2, 3 ... So you can practice different rhythms.
Chord change exercises:
These exercises are no longer a technique that you must develop so that you can have precision if you are putting out a song.
The mistake that a lot of people make is making finger-by-finger chord changes, but that seems a bit slow and you can develop very bad technique.
Try to practice the following: If you are making a C (C) chord on your ukulele and want to change to G (G) what you should do is separate your fingers from the ukulele and instead of putting your fingers one by one on the next chord you must go making the figure with your fingers and only get to land your fingers on the correct strings ...
Concentration exercises will help you to sing and play the ukulele at the same time. When I was learning to play guitar and to be able to sing my favorite songs, my teacher began to ask me questions or tell me something about my day but always playing chords on the ukulele or a song but without singing it, after integrating a song was PAN COMIDOOOO!
